Let’s head to Városligeti fasor 8/b, a street between Budapest’s 6th district and 7th district (this building is located in Terézváros, the 6th district). This address takes us to a beautiful lobby inside an elegant apartment building, constructed between 1941 and 1942.
The building was designed by Tibor Szivessy, a Hungarian architect who often included hidden treasures in his work. In 2022 and 2023, I had the chance to explore two other buildings by Szivessy: Bimbó utca 11 and Vármegye utca 15. Both feature stunning artworks by Margit Kovács, a renowned Hungarian ceramist who collaborated with Szivessy on several projects.
At Városligeti fasor 8/b, the lobby’s stained glass is the main highlight. It was designed by Jenő Haranghy and crafted by József Palka, adding a unique touch to this historic building.
