A little over a year ago, I had the opportunity to visit a remarkable place—Reáltanoda utca 12, located in the 5th district of Budapest. This historic house, long abandoned, is now set to undergo a transformation into an office space. But before its renovation, it was briefly opened to the public for an exhibition.
This architectural gem was originally completed in 1878 and designed by Gyula Bukovics. It was constructed for Ernő Blaskovich, the owner of the legendary racehorse named Kincsem, which was bred in his stud located in Tápiószentmárton. Kincsem is celebrated for holding the longest undefeated record of any racehorse, triumphing in all 54 of her races! What’s particularly fascinating is that the stable where Kincsem resided during Ernő Blaskovich’s time in Budapest still stands in the courtyard of the building.
